More National Success for Williams and Royal Snooker!

Royal Snooker’s Heath Williams continued his fantastic season with victory in the Czech National 6 Reds finals at Kolbenka Club in Prague on Sunday 5th May. Williams won his group before disposing of his club adversary (and fellow oldie) Jean Marie Hustin 2-0 in the last 16 with the aid of a 49 break. A dominant 3-0 victory with a 65 break, the highest of the competition, followed in the quarter finals against Jaroslav Horni. Heath completed his victory with close fought 3-2 wins over Jiri Stehlik in the semi-final and Tomas Kubicek in the final to seal his 3rd National Title of the season.

Earlier in the day Williams had partnered Hustin, as Royal-Snooker A Team, to victory in the Czech National Teams event with victory over Martin Cupal and Michal Brzica in the final (BrzyCup). Royal-Snooker A disposed of Jan Matejicek (2018 Czech Champion) and Jan Chren in the semi-finals (Arenia Snooker Team) and Royal-Snooker B (Petr Zak and Jiri Stehlik) in the quarter finals. In addition to his runner’s up spot in the Czech National Championships against Ales Herout, it has been a fantastic few weeks for Heath – congratulations!

Herout made the second highest break of the 6 Reds with a 63 break in his group match against Jaroslav Kucera but surprisingly lost to Stehlik to finish second in the group. That meant a last 16 meeting with Jakub Rendla who won 2-0 before succumbing to runner up Kubicek 3-0 in the quarter finals. Kubicek reached the final with a 3-1 victory over Zaid Al-Tamimi. He finishes the season with a runner up place to add to his third place finish in the Czech Snooker Championships.

Czech Masters National Championships 2019

The Czech Masters National Championships 2019 took place at Royal Snooker in Napajedla over the weekend of 20th and 21st April 2019.

Favourite for the title was Heath Williams following his runners up place in the Czech National Snooker Championships at the hands of Ales Herout, Czech number 1. Defending Champion Jean-Marie Hustin had other ideas hoping to retain the title he won in 2018 with a 5-3 victory over Jiri Aust.

The group stages went largely as expected with Williams, Hustin, Jirka Stehlik and Jakub Rendla running out group winners. Each negotiated their quarter final matches and met in the semi finals as seeded. In the first semi final Hustin defeated Rendla 4-1. Williams won the second semi final by the same scoreline against Stehlik.

The final was a tense affair, with Williams running out winner 4-1. He also took the highest break prize with a 49 break. Jakub Rendla won the 3rd place match with a 3-0 victory over Stehlik.

The tournament was also the final event of the Masters Series with Jean-Marie Hustin taking the inaugral title. Of the six events played, Hustin contested every final with one victory. Jirka Stehlik took one victory in Trebic with Williams winning the remaining four events.

Congratulations to all involved!
